Housing Assistance

What is it?

The Washington state government provides subsidized housing for a limited number of low-income individuals or families. If you qualify, you can choose specific units or a general region and place yourself on a waitlist. There is no way to know exactly when you will get off the waitlist, and it can take up to several years, depending on the location of your choice.

Regions are listed here: www.kcha.org/housing/by-city

Who is it for?

Family must include at least one household member who is disabled, elderly, 55+ or who qualifies as a dependent (under 18 years of age or is a person with a disability). An unborn child shall not be counted as a dependent except when determining initial program eligibility of a single pregnant woman without other children in the household;  Single-persons (as defined: those who are not elderly, near-elderly or disabled) will not be placed on the waiting list.
